Two thirds into the year already. Where has the time gone? Edmonton is certainly doomed for the season but there are a few optimists in Winnipeg who still have the playoff glint in their eyes. Everyone else is jockeying for home field advantage.
Hamilton (5-5) @ Calgary (8-2): Friday, September 13 (9:00pm EDT)
Pick: Calgary
It won’t be a walk in the park for the Stamps but they are clearly the better team and playing in front of the home crowd. The Cats haven’t been great on the road either. Hank has the arm but does he have enough weapons to out shoot Calgary? Who knows but it has the potential to be the game of the week.
Winnipeg (2-8) @ Edmonton (1-9): Saturday, September 14 (6:30pm EDT)
Pick: Winnipeg
The Toilet Bowl part I. Is Winnipeg stronger? Their offence certainly isn’t but they have double Edmonton’s wins. This could easily go either way and by easily I mean both teams will struggle mightily. Take the Bombers, why the hell not? They beat the best team in the league last week, something Edmonton has not done in a couple of tries.
Toronto (6-4) @ Saskatchewan (8-2): Saturday, September 14 (9:30pm EDT)
Pick: Saskatchewan
The Riders want to wash the taste last of week’s embarrassment from their mouths and are looking right at a wounded Toronto who look weak and delicious. Rookie Zach is going to have a really tough time calling plays over the noise of 30k+ and will be his toughest test to date. Both halves of Toronto’s offence (Ray and Owens) are on the bench cuddling each other which only makes the Riders’ kill easier. Mind you they did loose to Winnipeg last week so anything is possible…
Montreal (4-6) @ BC (6-4): Sunday, September 15 (4:30pm EDT)
Pick: BC
The formula this year for the BC Lions has been simple: take them at home, leave them on the road. I see no reason why this week will be any different with Montreal and their backup QB parade.
Last Week
(2-2) In retrospect it was really stupid to take Edmonton and I was warned ahead of time. Instead of looking like a genius I stand out like Rob Ford in an aerobics class. Winnipeg taking the Banjo Bowl more than makes up for it, even if I was wrong there too.
Season
(23-17) No more screwing around. Time to run the table.
I dare you to do better. Leave your picks below.
