Week 2 Picks

I literally couldn’t have shit the bed any worse than last week.  I suppose that’s what makes the CFL great?  (unexpected outcomes, not defecation)

Ottawa @ Montreal: Thursday, June 30 (7:00pm EDT)

Pick: Ottawa
I was tempted to pick Montreal on the strength of their defence but remembered their opponent from last week: Paul LaPolice’s anemic and unimaginative Blue Bomber offence.  Hardly a challenge.  I didn’t see Trevor Harris play but by all accounts he was masterful so it doesn’t matter who’s starting at QB for Ottawa, both are better than Kevin Glenn.

Toronto @ Saskatchewan: Thursday, June 30, (10:00pm EDT)

Pick: Toronto
I may come to regret this decision next week so don’t bet on this advice.  Until the Riders win I’m forced to assume they are absolutely terrible but on the other hand I saw little to be fearful of from Toronto last week.

BC @ Hamilton: Friday, July 25, (7:00pm EDT)

Pick: Hamilton
After week 1 it looks like Hamilton may do just a little bit better than my 9-9 prediction for their season.  I’m also unsure how BC beat Calgary, the only explanation I can think of is that Buono is back and can’t be discounted.

Winnipeg @ Calgary: Friday, July 1 (10:00pm EDT)

Pick: Calgary
I know it was only one game but it sure looks like Winnipeg has a long term lease on the West Division basement.  Which parts of Bombers are better in 2016?  Missed field goal: check.  Tons of QB sacks on Willy: check.  Terrible passing: check.  Then there’s the fact that Winnipeg has only one win at McMahon since 2001…
