Semi-Final Weekend Picks!

Just another day in the sun.

Just another day in the sun.

Playoffs!  Only two more glorious weeks until the Grey Cup!  I’m hopeful the last five games of the year are the best of the season but it’s colder than an Eskimo’s tit out there which doesn’t usually translate into a high score.

BC @ Montreal: Sunday, November 16 (1:00pm EDT)

Pick: Montreal

I don’t think Lulay is going to play.  This has stench of a diversionary tactic.  He hasn’t played all season why would he go in now?  Because Glenn sucks?  Yeah, I suppose that’s a good enough reason, but I don’t see it happening.  Montreal didn’t look great last week but Kevin Glenn is king choke and I can’t wait to watch him throw his INTs.

Saskatchewan @ Edmonton: Sunday, November 16 (4:30pm EDT)

Pick: Edmonton

It’s the battle of the backups!  I like Nichols much better than I like 41-year-old Joseph and Edmonton was playing their practice roster last week in Regina so throw that out the window.  They are a very good team and Nichols knows the offense in and out having been their starter before losing his job to Reilly.  Commonwealth stadium is a horrible place to play in the winter (yes it’s winter now) plus the Eskies have a reputation for using illegal equipment and getting away with it.  But… In the CFL anything can happen.

Last Week

(3-1) Went out strong. (59-22) on the year.  Of the prognosticators I follow only Bob Irving (60-21) had a better record than I.  It’s going to be tough to do better next year.  We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to see if Hamilton loses to Calgary in the Cup.
